Tai Chi ( Jin Wan Style)
On Tuesday July 25 2007 I got the chance of a life time to train with the Shaolin Monks in Tennessee while
on Vacation. And the great thing it wasn't even planned. My Brother Matthew Sheppard and me Andrew Sheppard got to meet and
train with Grandmaster Yao and see the world famous Shaolin Monks put on a great show.
These Monks were seen on the following movies "Jet Li's Fearless" "The Matrix" and "Crouching
tiger hidden dragon"

"Sang Leng Jiu Su"
On a sword found at the Shaolin Temple the words "Sang Leng Jiu Su" were carved on
the blade.
It means " Two Dragons Fighting over the knowledge of the Sphere"
"Chang-San Feng"
"THE HISTORY OF TAI CHI THEY DONT WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT"
"Dim Mak"
The background to dim-mak is as secretive as the art itself used to be. Chang San-feng invented it around 1300. (Where
have I heard this name before?) He is the guy who invented Taijiquan (T'ai Chi). What's a guy like this doing inventing
two Martial Arts that seems to be as different as night and day.? They're not.
Chang was a acupuncturist known for his martial arts skills through out China. He used his knowledge of
acupuncture to create Dim Mak and T'ai Chi.
T'ai Chi was invented as a substyle where Chang could teach his family and closest students this deadly
art without others being able to catch on to deadly style.
Dim-mak movements are hidden in Tai Chi's free flowing forms and when people would see someone practising
this art, they think of it as just an exercise or for health.
Today people pass Tai Chi off as just a bunch of old people in the park. And will argue that its all for health. My
advise is never write something off because otheres are to blind to see whats in front of thir eyes.
Within the Shaolin Temple there was a special structure was devised, which would allow those monks wishing
to leave the Shaolin temple, to do so. If a monk wanted to leave the temple, he was allowed to do so after defeating all his
contemporary masters in combat. On the day that the monk would leave the temple, he had to go through a line of his contemporary
masters and defeat each one in turn. The philosophical monks were often defeated before the end of the line and often killed.
However, some did make it and were thenable to introduce their own fighting methods to the outside world.
The founder of Tai Chi Chuan was one of the monks
who made it past the line of no return and out through the gates of the Shaolin temple. His name was Chang-San Feng.
His fighting skills were so advanced that the Emperor offered him the post of head martial arts teacher of the Ming dynasty.
He was showered with gifts by the Emperor, who also built a temple on the Wutang Mountains to honour him.
The internal force of Yin had never before been applied or fully understood until Chang-San Feng developed it with
Shaolin Kung fu and called it Supreme Ultimate Fist, otherwise known as Tai Chi Chuan, with Chi Kung as a set of breathing
exercises to enhance physical strength.
The Emperors of China were so impressed with the fighting skills of the Taoist monks that they were eventually invited
to the Royal Courts and ordered to teach Tai Chi to the Princes and Imperial guards. The Taoist monks took up the offer and
through their teachings to the imperial guards Tai Chi Chuan eventually reached the people.

Once outside the Shaolin temple Chang San Feng traveled to the Shanxi Province North of Henan and met a school teacher
named Wang Tsung Yueh and taught him "Tai Chi"
After mastering the style of Tai Chi Wang Tsung Yueh Visited the Chen village which was like an hour away from the
Shaolin temple.
While at the Chen Villege Wang went to the local bar where Shaolin Monks were known to hang out and overheard a talk
about martial arts and he couldnt help but to join the conversation.
The Shaolin Monks were highly skilled Martial Artists they were taught to be the best at what they did. They had the
heritage and tradition on their side, And that made some monks think that they were bulletproof.
The Shaolin Monks thought their style was undefeatable. The Monks challenged Wang to a fight after Wang
tried to argue his point that Tai Chi was just as good style of martial arts if not better than Shaolin kung fu.
This angered the monks and when they attacked it was Wang who sent the Shaolin Monks flying through the air.
The locals in Chen village were so shocked by what they had just seen begged wang to teach them the style of Tai Chi.
This led to the birth of "Chen Style Tai Chi
"HOW TAI CHI CAME TO BE"
Master Chang is known as the Father of the 'Grand Supreme Fist', Tai Chi Chuan. Chang discovered
that most Wu Kuen, that is to say martial forms, were too vigorous and relied too heavily upon the physical strength.
It is told that Master Chang, ever observant of Nature, once witnessed a combat between a snake and a bird. The noise
of this contest had disturbed the Master's devotions, and venturing forth from his modest hut, he witnessed the bird to attack
the snake. At each pass, the bird fiercely pecked and clawed at the snake, however, the reptile through suppleness and
coiling of his form, was able to avoid the attacks and launch strikes of his own. The bird in his turn circled and used
his wings beat the snake aside when he struck. Master Chang contemplated upon this experience. That night, as
the Master slept, Yu Huang, the 'Glorious Jade Emperor', visited Chang in his dreams and instructed him, teaching him
the secrets of the Tao that the bird and the snake innately knew. The next day, Chang sprang up from his sleep wide awake
and inspired by his Celestial Visitor, and immediately set about the creation of a new Martial Art form that relied upon Internal
Power, or Chi, at its root. This art held as its foundation the Truth that 'yeilding overcomes aggression' and
'softness overpowers hardness'. In honor of his divine influences, Chang called his art Tai Chi Chuan, the 'Grand
Supreme Fist'.

"KUNG FU"
THE MOTHER ART
Iron Feather Kung Fu was founded on the theory of Yin Yang.
Tai Chi is a art that is used for health but as I have come to find out through the years never go by what
others tell you. I have been in many dojos and met alot of great people along the way.
There are people out there that say there is no one secret to martial arts training. But if
you look hard enough its right under your nose.

The confusion
comes from people claiming to teach the one "true" Wing Chun, when that is in fact impossible since there are so many branches
that have descended separately from the Red Boats
The 5th generation grandmaster
Mr. Leung Jan caught his neighbor Mr. Chan Wah Shun spying on him teaching his two sons Leung Cheun and Leung Bik traditional
Wing Chun, in the original state, in which it was passed down from the Shaolin
Temple.
Therefore, he wouldn't have
been the heir to the system because he wasn't a family member. Leung Jan did not know how long Chan had beenwatching or how
much he had learned. Therefore, Leung Jan had Chan fight his younger son Leung Cheun.! To his amazement, Chan defeated Leung
Cheun.
Grandmaster Chan Wah Shun and Mister Leung
Bik were both taught two different variations of Wing Chun.
Chan was not as well educated
as the Leung's children, however, he had a talent for martial art. As a result, he did Wing Chun better than his fellow students
despite his late start.
Because of his profession,
he had many opportunities to use his Wing Chun skill to defend his business, and actually got more combat experience than
his sifu. He often represented his sifu to take challenges and took victory beautifully
Chan Wah Shun had cat like refiexes his sticky hands or Chi Sao was
amazingly fast Chan was noted for his slaps and pinching abilities. He threw out the forms believing that fighting could never
be taught with in a box set of rules.
Chan Wah
Shun believed that balance, reflexes, slowness, sticky hands, center line, and practice of following a attackers retreat as
a powerful tool. Also the 2 strike rule…Which mean to
strike and block at the same time. ….This is why we have the 2,4,6,8 method.
Chan Wah Shun at this point
proclaimed himself Grandmaster of Shun Kung Wing Chun Kung Fu.
Intelligent as Leung Jan
was as grandmaster, he knew Chan Wah Shun would dispute grandmastership with his sons, after his death tobecome the leader
of the system.
Note: People have asked me about Dim Mak and the role of Dim Mak
in the Hitsujikai Dojo... I dont claim to be a Grandmaster of Dim Mak
Under Grandmaster Hsien I did have training in the Dim Mak system.
Pressure points can be found in all systems if you look hard enough:
A pressure point is a pressure point no matter what language you
say it in or what nationality you are.
Taekwondo: Keup Soh or Hyel Dul
Jujutsu: Kyusho Ryu Jujutsu
Ninjutsu: Gyokko Ryu Ninjutsu
Kung Fu: Dim Mak
Ryu Kyu Kempo: Tuite
The Goals of our Pressure Point Program:
1. To
integrate pressure points easily with any Striking or Joint Locking System
2. To eliminate the
complicated memorization of theories behind pressure points
3. Create practical
street effective techniques based on Eastern & Western principles.
4. Bring forth a simple
method for remembering targets & locating them instantly.
5. Combine street
effectiveness with authentic pressure point & vital point information.
